Shrink Fibroids Naturally - Jump Start Your Journey - 10 Steps

In all of my blog post I am constantly encouraging and inspiring women to take control of their health and start making different lifestyle choices so that they can shrink their fibroids naturally. If you've read all of my blog post then you know I battled fibroids for 15 years, and that I finally successfully shrunk my fibroids enough so that I could avoid surgeries, and so that I no longer have all those horrible side effects of fibroids, such as continuous heaving bleeding, and painful periods.  There was a time when I was taking 9 Advil pain pills a day just to get rid of the cramps.  Sometimes I had to take sick days from work because my periods were so painful.  I avoided going to places on the first days of my cycle because I would bleed so much, and I had to be near a bathroom to change my tampons every hour. Sex was painful, I was extremely emotional and irritable because my hormones were out of control.  I became depressed over my situation.  I was easily annoyed.  Then I would become extremely tired from being anemic from losing so much blood.  Do any of these symptoms sound like what's happening to you?  I had a lot of other bad symptoms as well like hormonal adult acne, cysts in my breasts, dry hair, dry eyes. People with fibroids can suffer from infertility and have an increased chance of a miscarriage or premature birth if they get pregnant while they have large fibroids. Although fibroid tumors are not cancerous, they still invade your body and they can reap havoc on your life.

I tried the traditional Doctor "only" route.   I had 2 myomectomies to remove the fibroids, but after about 5 years or so the fibroids grew back after each surgery.  My surgeries only gave me relief for from the fibroids  for about 5 years, and then the fibroids started growing back.  Also, unfortunately, the surgeries didn't heal my hormonal imbalance problems, so I still had adult acne, cysts in my breasts, dry hair, dry eyes etc.  After the third time my fibroids started growing back,  I knew I had to do something different.  I had to get smarter about what I was doing.  If you haven't read my previous blog posts I encourage you to scroll down on my blog and read some of my earlier posts. But in this post I want to help you kick start your own journey and start shrinking your fibroids.  I have learned a lot over the years, by trial and error, by researching and by practicing, and I want to share that knowledge with you.  When I first started learning about shrinking my fibroids I tried different things.  I started integrating changes slowly and saw results in the first 3 months and then more results in 6 months.  I want to share with you what I did, so you can learn from what I did, and you can be more aggressive in the beginning, and see results even faster than I did.  I still do all these things everyday, and this is what has kept my fibroids shrunk and small enough so that they don't give me any problems.

If you really want to shrink your fibroids naturally, then following these 10 steps to kick start your journey and get you on the path to a healthier life.

1.  BE DETERMINED - The first thing you will need to be is DETERMINED. You will have to make up your mind that you are going to DO SOMETHING and you are going to stick with it so that you can get results.   As a society we have become so accustomed to quick fixes.  We expect to pop one pill from the doctor and "poof" all our troubles are gone.  It doesn't work that way when it comes to shrinking your fibroids.

2.  GO TO THE DOCTOR -  Stop being afraid to go to the doctor, stop being afraid of the diagnosis, stop being embarrassed to tell your doctor what's  really going on with your menstrual cycle.  Many women suffer in silence because they are afraid or embarrassed.  You need to go to a doctor and get an exam, and an ultrasound so they can determine how many fibroids you have and measure how large they are.  At one time I had 7 fibroids of various sizes.  Some small, and some large fibroids, 2 cm up to 8 cm. My fibroids eventually shrunk.   Some small fibroids are gone and the larger ones shrunk by about 60%. Your doctor will go over all your options.  They will probably mention treatments like myomectomy, uterine fibroid embolization (UFE), hormonal therapy, hysterectomy.  Don't be frightened, just go and listen to what the doctor says.  If your doctor will approve it, try and and also get a hormonal test that measures your estrogen and progesterone levels.  It's good to know your levels, and if you are low in progesterone then you might need to use some natural progesterone cream and rub it on your belly twice per day.  Some women with fibroids have high levels of the bad estrogen and also low progesterone.

3.  EDUCATE YOURSELF - Don't get all your information from one source. Not even from just me. Unfortunately most medical doctors do not integrate natural or homeopathic ways to cure patients.  Most Doctors are simply taught to diagnosis and then prescribe a pill or a surgery.  Most doctors do not educate themselves on natural medicines, and most doctors do not address root causes of our health issues, but instead they just prescribe pills and surgery.    So you will need to do more than just go to your OB/GYN doctor.  Through my own discovering I have learned that the real medical problem of us ladies with fibroids is not the fibroids at all.  That right, Fibroids is not our real medical root cause problem.  Fibroids are just one symptom of our real medical problem.  Our real medical problem is ESTROGEN DOMINANCE. We have too much estrogen in our bodies. So if we cure our estrogen dominance problem then our fibroids will shrink and all of the other medical problems associated with fibroids will improve as well.

4.  CHANGE YOUR DIET - As I mentioned, the cause of fibroids is estrogen dominance.  So to fix that you have to reduce the amount of estrogen that you allow to enter your body through the food you eat.  When you eat animal meats, beef, chicken,  and pork, and when you eat dairy products like milk, cheese, and eggs, you are adding extra estrogen hormones into your body.  So to kick start your new diet you will need to cut out eating animal meats and dairy.  I suggest you cut it out completely for the first 30 days, then if you like after 30 days you can re-integrate it back into your diet, BUT in a much much lower amounts.  Your body has a propensity to store estrogen so you can not eat as much as another woman without it affecting your fibroids.  Organic meats are better, but they still come from animals so that means they still have estrogen hormones.  So yes you need to cut them out.  You can eat fish, and that will help get your protein in your diet.  Don't eat Tofu or Soy.  Also no caffeine and reduce your sugar intake. Replace your morning coffee and cream instead with a hot herbal tea.  No sodas.  All of these things increase the estrogen in your body.  So try and avoid them as much as possible.  You also need to eat more fiber.  Fiber is a good way to eliminate estrogen from your body.  Fiber will help you have a bowel movement everyday so that the excess estrogen will be eliminated and not stored in your body.  If you are not having a bowel movement everyday you need to eat more fiber and eat more leafy green vegetables.  I know these diet changes may be tough for some, but try your very best.  The better you do at eliminating these things the faster and better your results will be.  Try and kick start your journey by strictly adhering to it for the first 30 days. Then the next 3 months eat very little of these items.  The more you stay away from it the better your results.

5. EXERCISE - Try and exercise 20 minutes a day.  Even if its just a walk around the block.  It really doesn't matter what you do, just get moving.  The more you exercise the better and faster your results will be.

6.  DRINK APPLE CIDER VINEGAR - The first thing you need to get is some Apple Cider Vinegar.  You can buy it at your local grocery or drug store.  It's cheap.  In the morning have a cup of hot herbal tea, decaffeinated, and add 1 teaspoon of Apple Cider Vinegar for every 6 oz of water.  I add a little honey to make it taste better.  Apple Cider Vinegar is a great way to start detoxing your body, your liver and getting rid of bacteria and toxins in your body.  When you have excess estrogen in your body, your liver becomes sluggish because it is overwhelmed with all the estrogen and toxins that it is trying to process.   With a sluggish liver it can't work correctly, so it doesn't process all the estrogen and as a result the estrogen stays in your body and makes your fibroids grow. The apple cider vinegar will start to help you detox your body so that your liver will get stronger and do a better job at processing the estrogen in your body. As a side extra tip, if you are experiencing adult acne due to your hormonal imbalance then also start using the apple cider vinegar as an astringent and toner on your face.  Each morning and night after you wash your face then use a cotton ball or your clean hands to rub the applec cider vinegar on your face.  Let it dry.  I normally keep it on and then just apply my makeup over it, or at night let it sit on your face all night.  Just like the apple cider vinegar will help kill the toxin and bacteria in your body by drinking it, on your face it will help kill any acne causing bacteria.  It works welll.  You may have to get used to the initial smell, but it's worth it. And don't worry about all that stuff floating in the bottle you buy.  It sort of looks like pulp.  That's good healing stuff so shake it up before you use it.

7.  TAKE DIM- Dim is absolutely my favorite supplement.  When I started taking DIM my body improved tremendously.  It helped shrink my fibroids. It helped get rid of all my adult hormonal acne, it eliminated my hormonal PMS and mood swings.  Another great benefit of DIM is that it can help lower your blood pressure if you have high blood pressure.  If you are on blood pressure medicine, taking DIM may can get you off of those meds.  It has done so for many people.  Officially DIM is an abbreviation for Diindolylmethane (DIM).  DIM is a natural phytonutrient found in cruciferous vegatables like broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower and kale.  So when I take 4 DIM  it's equivalent to me eating 4 lbs of broccoli, kale etc everyday.  Plus when I eat my green vegetables at dinner time then I get even more natural DIM in my body.  So you ask what's so great about getting that many servings of green vegetables that it shrinks fibroids. First of all I could never eat 4 lbs of green leafy vegetable a day just by adjusting my diet.   Plus one of the powerful effects of getting all that DIM found in cruciferous vegetables is that it has the amazing ability to balance hormones and metabolize estrogen.  If you have fibroids then getting rid of, or metabolizing estrogen is very very important.  DIM will help your body get rid of the estrogen in your body.  If you have fibroids you need to start taking DIM right away.  I take 4 DIM each day, for a total of 200 mg.

8.  DRINK ORGANIC MANGOSTEEN JUICE DAILY -  This fruit juice is wonderful in helping to strengthen my liver, detox my body, get rid of bacteria and reduce inflammation in my body.  With Estrogen dominance your body also probably has chronic inflammation, and a sluggish liver.  That means you may suffer more from allergies, sinus problems, get colds & flu more and your uterus is inflamed from the fibroids.  The mangosteen juice is really helpful in alleviating this.  A small amount is all you need each day.  I drink 1- 2 oz per day.  But you need to make sure you get a high quality brand that does not include a lot of other juice fillers and water.  I'll share with you the one I use that is high quality and includes the rind of the fruit.  The rind is the most important part because that's where most of the nutrients are that will heal you.  The juice has to contain the rind.

9.  TAKE A WHOLE FOOD VITAMIN - Many women with fibroids also suffer from some vitamin deficiencies of B-12, Vitamin E, Vitamin D and others.  That's why you need a good whole food vitamin.  Don't waste your money on those cheap synthetic vitamins like women's one a day, they don't do enough because they are not being absorbed in your body enough.  You need a good whole food vitamin.  Later in this post you can see what vitamin I take everyday.

10.  TAKE GREEN TEA EXTRACT DECAF - Each day I take one pill supplement 725 MG of green tea extract, decaf.  DECAF is very important.  The ECGC in the green tea helps to breakdown and kill the fibroids in your body.

Take Care,

Deborah

  1. Hi Deborah, I completely agree with everything that you posted in this article. I had not heard about the mangosteen juice, but everything else is right on target with my research. Due to my liver qi stagnanacy, im also taking some traditional chinese medicine natural herbs that are supposed to help. Congratulations on shrinking your fibroids. I hope to have my success story soon too..

  3. Hello. Am new to blogging but I just want to ask a quick question. What is the effect of all these that you have mentioned on reproduction? Why I have asked is because I recently got to know that I had multiple fibroids 2 large one within d womb. The doctor's recommended myomectomy. I have very heavy periods n extremely painful ones. Since my last appointment with the doctor I have been researching alternative ways of shrinking the fibroids. But my ultimate question is this. Would this treatment affect the ability to conceive? I ask because I only just got married and I want to have children and I dont want to do anything that will affect my fertility. Your answer will be greatly appreciated. xx

    1. The 10 steps I mentioned like changing diet, exercise, taking vitamin supplements and drinking natural juices aren't damaging to your fertility. But if your fibroids are caused by you having estrogen dominance, and your hormones are imbalanced then that can affect your fertility. So you should get your estrogen levels checked with your doctor.

  4. Ms. Deborah,
Could you post which website you use to buy DIM? Also which vitamin brand or what store do you buy/get your whole vitamin supplement?
Thank you for helping others like myself.

  5. I buy all my products from Vitacost. I buy them online. Except the Apple Cider Vinegar I just buy from my local grocery store. You can see on my blog in the right column all the names, brands and pics of the products that use. Here's a link from Vitacost where you can get $10 discount on your purchase. Good luck...stay consistent, patient & remember I do ALL the 10 things. Not just one thing.

  6. Deborah,
I'd like to know if I can start the DIM supplement and vitamin while I'm on my cycle? I was prescribed birth control pills to manage the bleeding and I've been unsuccessful with it.

    1. Yes you can start anytime. But you need to do more than DIM. Do the diet changes, no chicken, beef, pork at least 30 days, try to go for 60 days. This will give you a big boost. You need to clean out all that excess estrogen. Also my steps are 10, not just 1 step.

  7. Deborah,
Can anyone start taking the vitami supplements at any given time? Meaning, is it okay to start them while I'm on my cycle?
Thank you for your feedback and willingness to help others.

  8. I'm curious to know how did you cope with taking out animal products from your diet? I'm on my first week and what I'm struggling with is the mottling of dairy. So I can manage the no meat however in the past I would have pasta w/fat free half and half. Also for bfast I would eat a hard boiled egg and toast. Please share how you did it for 30 days. This Thursday will mark my first week of no meat, no dairy.

    1. I didn't go vegan, or vegetarian. I just don't eat chicken, beef and pork. I eat lots of fish. No milk. Yes I eat pasta too. Much more grains, and fiber, beans, rice, nuts. Make it something you can sustain. Put some peanut butter or almond butter on your toast in the morning. This will give you a protein boost. You need to make sure to take the whole food vitamin I recommended. This is important too. I do 10 steps, not just 1. Just jump in. Don't half do it.

    2. Thank you for your response Deborah. I am 41 years old, and yesterday I went to see an OB/GYN doctor about possible fibroids I may have since I been feeling sick this past year. She did a pelvic exam and did a pre-ultra sound on my uterus. She found what looks like 2 fibroids. 1 big as an orange, the other is small. I still need to go back for a confirmation ultra sound. Now, if it is confirmed that I do have the fibroids, then I am thinking of doing the fibroid embolization. And then continuing my daily supplement and diet change to keep them from returning. I am just wondering what you would do in my situation? Thank you so much in advance. I really appreciate your feedback and help!!

    3. Your plan sounds good. Start the vitamins, supplements and diet changes now. This will help you when you do have the UFE. You'll help stop the growth of the fibroids, and maybe have them shrink a bit before your UFE. This will help your recovery. But just remember even after the UFE you need to make these lifestyle changes. Remember fibroids are just a symptom, not the real problem. The lifestyle changes are meant to address your real problem. If you don't do that then your fibroids can return as well as all the other bad symptoms. Your focus should be to avoid those things that are causing the fibroids. Just don't kill the fibroids. Kill the real cause which is excess estrogen. Good Luck.

  12. Great info! I've always had symptoms of estrogen dominance and have been worried I may have a fibroid issue. Even with a vegan diet I was still suffering most of my symptoms like migraines, bad cramping during periods and ovulation, mood swings and IBS. I also was hospitalized with an extremely bad migraine and early signs of a possible stroke a few years ago when I was given the contraceptive pill by a doctor who failed to ask if i suffer hormonal migraines. I couldn't believe that no doctor had ever considered that a long list of health issues I've had for years could be related to estrogen dominance. 2 months ago I cut out all soy products after finding out they were high in estrogen. I noticed a difference in my periods but they were still pretty bad. 1 month ago I started taking the DIM supplement and am yet to see how it will affect my cycle. The main change I've noticed is that all my bras are too big now!

    1. On a vegan diet, you need to make sure you are also getting the other necessary vitamins, espcially b-complex and vitamin D. A deficiency in these areas can make estrogen dominance worse. You should get the vitamins I recommend on this blog. You also need to do the other 9 steps to cleanse your liver. The more of the 9 steps you do, the better and faster results you will see. Good Luck.

    2. ...Also Yes as you get your estrogen levels and hormones under control you will possibly loose weight. That's why your bra size dropped. If you have a high sugar diet, cut that too.

  13. I was wondering what your thoughts are on Maca Root. I've heard that its a hormone balancer and I came across a version that contains DIM.

Also, I was wondering why aren't posting on a regular basis. Do you not have the interest now that you've resolved your fibroid issues?

    1. Sorry, I don't know of maca root. Also, I'm not a professional blogger. I'm just one lady sharing her story. I don't blog all the time because I encourage everyone to get their information from a variety of sources. Also keeping fibroids shrunk and keeping them from not causing me problems is an ongoing cause in my life. Doing this requires a lifestyle change, not a short term quick fix. So with that I'm always interested. Good luck on your journey.

  14. Hi Deborah,
Thanks so much for posting your experiences in trying to deal with fibroids. I have been trying to research as much as I can and am trying to avoid a hysterectomy. I have a large 9cm fibroid that seems to be growing quickly. I read about the clinical trial using green tea and the average fibroid shrinkage was 32% in just 4 months time. Also I found it interesting reading about a possible vitamin d deficiency in fibroid sufferers. I work 12-13 hour days so this maybe a case for me, in not getting enough sunlight. It is a shame that more physicians are not aware of these clinical trials and at least have their patients try the green tea and vitamins before pushing surgery.
I have just bought the Dim plus, apple cider vinegar, and green tea, I also plan on adding magnesium as my fibroid is calcified and I have read that magnesium gets rid of calcium depostits.
I was wondering if you take Black Strap Molasses along with the Apple Cider Vinegar? I have read on some sites where people claim that they both have to be taken together in order for the apple cider vinegar to work?

Also have you ever tried the castor oil packs?

I really enjoyed reading your blog, and appreciate your information.

    1. Don't forget the diet changes. No more estrogen foods. Cut out meat quickly since your fibroids are so large. I've never tried castor oil packs but I've read they help some people. I also don't know about the black molasses. Yes I know about Vitamin D deficiency. That's why I take the whole food vitamins everyday. Here is a good article on a diet for fibroids.

    1. You should probably get an exam by a doctor if you are really worried. I know when my fibroids started shrinking I experienced some cramping on and off and it lasted about 4 days. I just took and advil. I don't know about spotting only when it was before my period.

  16. Thank you for your story and for sharing what has helped you!! I appreciate it very much and hope to implement your suggestions! I know you mentioned no soy or tofu--this makes sense to me, but nowadays soy (even a bit) is in EVERYTHING--I've been reading labels and am finding it in my salad dressings, bread products, even hummus! How strict do I need to be with avoid any soy? (I don't eat tofu). Thanks!! Betsy

    ReplyDelete
  17. Yes so is in a lot of stuff. Here is what I learned about soy. Some Soy is bad for you. But not the type in the DIM. The soy in DIM is there to help replace the bad estrogen with good estrogen. The is more of a natural plant soy.
Say NO to processed soy. That includes soy protein isolate and concentrates, genetically engineered soy foods (typically made from Monsanto’s Roundup soybeans), soy supplements, and soy junk foods like soy cheese, soy ice cream, soy oil, and soy burgers.

    1. Thank you, Deborah, for the reply on soy! That is helpful! I have begun making dietary changes and hope the juice and DIM will help to boost my progress (I just received them in the mail yesterday). I've been told I have five fibroids, and two on the front are quite large (softball size or so), and I can feel them grow bigger and shrink at times. Right before my period they tend to get bigger, and also when I eat junk food. We hope to have a family, and we need to do that soon (I'm 41); we are beginning to consult with doctors, and I'm thinking we're going to have to do surgery. But I figure if I can shrink them, surgery might be easier, and hopefully they won't grow back afterwards.

Thank you for the the article as well, but I had another question--it said that two or more servings of dairy a day is supposed to be helpful for fibroids. Is that what you have also found?

One last question--is some good quality dark chocolate permissible on your anti-fibroid regimen, or is the caffeine / sugar in the chocolate a problem? I'm cutting so much out (including gluten for another issue)--was hoping to be able to keep some little bright spot in my diet! :(

      Delete
    2. I've never read that dairy is good for fibroids. I have read the opposite, especially cow dairy. For your diet you should anything with caffeine and sugar as much as possible. But you also want to have something sustainable as this should be something you continue, not just a fad. Try and do zero amounts for the first 2-3 months. Then you can add things back in much lower quantities. A piece of chocolate twice a month is not bad, but if you find yourself having lots of sugar and caffeine 3 times a week then that's not good.

    3. Hi Deborah. Can I substitute skimmed milk for whole cream and brown sugar for white? How about using a lot of tummeric on white rice as I hate the taste of brown rice? I do not have most of the symptoms even though I have 4 medium sized fibroids around my uterus and one large enough to be seen when I lie down . I only feel a dull ache around my pelvic region from time to time.

  19. Deborah, I am so glad that I came across this post and your blog. My dearest friend has suffered so much with fibroids, which has resulted in her having 2 miscarriages. What kind of bread - is 100% whole grain ok? Is brown rice ok? How about salon? What kinds of seafood? I am going hungry not knowing what I can make. Most of the foods I eat are on the not to eat list now. Can you please provide some examples of what you would eat in a day without going hungry? What you eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Recipes or a list of things you eat would be really helpful. The more the better. Really would appreciate it. Thanks for sharing!!

    1. For young ladies who still want to have a baby I always suggest you monitor the growth of your fibroids very carefully. Go to doctor every six months. I say this because as your fibroids grow and get bigger your options will become fewer. If they get too big then it gets harder to shrink them naturally and so you have to get surgery to get rid of them. After surgery then do the diet changes and lifestyle changes to make sure they don't come back again. Out of all the solutions the worst thing anyone can do is ignore the fibroids and not do something.

  23. This really helps! I have 2 fibroids that started off small. When I got pregnant they got really big one 12cm and the other one 5cm. I had to have a C-section. Now 8 months later I'm having heavy, heavy bleeding that's been going on 3 months after I had the baby. I thought it was normal because I just had a baby. I went to the doctor and they told me that my uterus is big and the fibroids are blocking and that's why my periods are heavy. They have suggested surgery but I may want to have more children. He put me on birth control.

My question to you. I just purchased the supplements that you have suggested, however, the doctor wants to put me on birth control to control the bleeding which I will start on Sunday. Should I start these? Or should I do your plan and see what happens since birth control pills have estrogen in them? What would you do? I can always start next month on the birth control.

With extra large fibroids like 12 cm, even if you shrink it to 7 or 6 cm, it still might give you problems. So sometimes the best solution is a combination. Shrink first, then remove then continue diet and supplements so they don't grow back. You can remove with a myomectomy, or the newer procedure is UFE where they basically kill the fibroids by cutting the blood supply. Birth control pills just hide the symptoms, it doesn't fix the real problem. Your fibroids can still grow with birth control, and the larger the fibroids get then the less options you have. Skip the birth control and do something more like having them removed if they are as big as 12 cms. You need a fresh start of a fibroid free body then concentrate on not having them grow back.

  24. Dear Deborah,

I started your plan about a month ago. I am praying it will work for me too. Just wondering what are any physical symptoms and changes that may occur when the fibroids begin to shrink?

    1. I discharged some dead fibroids during my periods. I also had some cramping.

    2. I have been on your plan for 3 months now and I am experiencing intermittent bleeding with no cramping. I have also had a shorter cycle - 21 days. Did you experience anything similar? Thank you for your feedback :O)

    3. Dear Deborah,

I am curious that you had discharged dead fibroids during your period. My naturopath said that if my fibroids shrunk it would all be through my lymphatic system so I would not see any discharge. Unless I am wondering if you just had the shells of the fibroid?

    4. Yes I did have some spotting and some cramping.

  25. Hi Deborah,

I have been on this new diet for about a month now and I am a little concerned. I have been drinking a lot of green smoothies and eating a lot of veggies. I am also eating beans, whole grain, fish, and seafood. I have eliminated all dairy and meat. I am also taking the all of the supplements and products that you recommended. Did you notice a change in your stool when you switched to this diet? Mine is not as formed as regular stool over the past week. Today, I noticed green in it. I feel great though. A little ravenous at times but overall feel great. Please reply.

  26. How big is too big to try and shrink the fibroids. I just found out I have 10 outside my uterus and am shocked because I was ready to try and conceive ! So the plans are halted. I have one inside the uterine cavity that they can take out easily but the remainder would have to be removed by myomectomy. I would much rather attemp to shrink at least half size than do the myomectomy and then wait almost a year to try to have a baby :(. I believe I have 2 they are around 5 cm and a few others that are 1-4cm. How big were yours and how long did it take to shrink them ? I pray this will work so that I can avoid the myomectomy.

  27. Hi Deborah: Thank you so much for sharing all this info you are wonderful for sharing your story and helping other women. I am definitely going to try your steps because I have every symptom you can have with these awful things and it is messing up my life. I've been recommend by 2 Doctors to get a hysterectomy and want to avoid that. Two questions... 1) I've seen other people who said they have shrunk their fibroids that you must give up gluten or white flour, white rice and starches. Did you do this? Or did you cut them down? I have been tested and do not have a gluten problem. . 2) Also, I know you are not a Doctor but just wondering if in your discussion with other women if any of them were able to do this while on Birth Control Pills - I'm assuming not since that is adding estrogen. Thank you!

    2. HI Deborah, I have started taking DIM 6 weeks ago, the other steps I am taking is exercising and taking D an dB vitamins as well as looking at my diet, and drinking apple cider vinegar. However for the last week or so I have a slight discharge every time I go for a pee and pain in the lower abdomen. These are the symptoms I have never had before
I had my fibroids removed few years ago but they grew back and many of them. As I am trying to get pregnant the doctor recommended not to take them of as there were to many and thy would leave to many scars.
I am not sure why all of the sudden I feel this pain as I had fibroids for most of my adult life. Could this be caused by DIM or just getting older- I will be 40 in few weeks. Thank you for your help

    3. Hi Deborah

I strongly believe in all your healing process because I started my own diet and lifestyle changes since May/2014. But after seeing my last result on 12/2014, my fibroid grew to 7cm but no cysts. At least it cleared out the cysts. After this result I desperately started more research on how to shrink fibroids and I found you. I started your steps in March/2015 and stopped eating meat but I'm having an MRI by June. I want to see that it is finally shrinking. I was advised for surgery but my inner self is telling me to keep going with the steps because it is working. But I just recently stopped taking dim only because my new integrative dr. said that my hormone is normal according to my blood work. And again my inner voice is telling me that my hormones are not normal. I still get the heavy bleeding, blood clots during period, etc. What can of test will prove my estrogen level? I refuse surgery because I truly agree with you that this will not solve the root causes of fibroid. Should I continue taking dim even if my hormones are normal?

    4. Hi Hanna , you should not have pain when you pee. You should see a doctor. You may have a urinart tract infection. If so the doctor will prescribe you an antibiotic. But I will also add that urinary tract infections also occur because unbalanced hormones and ph levels. That's what I speak about in my blog. Too much estrogen can cause all sorts of problems. Go to the doctor right away to get tested for the tract infection. Then start controlling your estrogen levels. Many women with hormonal problems also get yeast infections. If you are getting yeast infections and urinary tract infections then you should pay close attention to the 10 steps I mention.

  28. Hi Deborah!

Thanks for sharing all of your knowledge and experiences! It's been helpful! I have a question about taking the Green Tea Extract. I have read that the extract can interfere with folate use in cells, which can possibly cause anemia. I was curious to get your thoughts on this. Thanks!

  30. You are a GODSEND! I am 40 and had a myomectomy when I was 35 to remove 4 large fibroids & my fibroids all grew back. I am now 50 pounds overweight and miserable! I didn't want to go under the knife again & found your blog by goggling "How I shrunk my fibroids" and poof! Here you are! :) This all makes sense because for 7 years prior to my first myomectomy I was a pescetarian (fish & veggies only) but relocated to Texas and started eating meat again. I am going to try everything you suggested and I will keep you posted. THANK YOU SO MUCH AND GOD BLESS YOU!

  34. Deborah,

Love what you are doing here to help women be their own health advocates!!! Just a couple of quick questions-- could adding kelp & Mexican yam extract increase natural progesterone some if you really want to avoid the cream. If daily fish consumption is poor what about an selenium/iodine supplement? Curious to hear your thoughts!!!!!

  35. Thanks Deborah,
I did all of this, except the mangosteen juice, when I had breast cancer. Also have fibroids. DIM is amazing stuff. A staple in my house. Also try Indole3 carbinol , I also used it for the cancer. If all this is unsuccessful I will look into the ultrasound. Essiac tonic is wonderful for liver cleansing. It takes a little getting used to but soon became my herbal tea 2x daily, as well as maitake mushrooms. Mushrooms are really great medicine and I highly recommend checking them out. Thanks again for the posting

  38. Hi Deborah,
Are you still reading posts? I was recently diagnosed with fibroids and my doc wants to a do hysterectomy (partial). He never once suggested he wanted to run a estrogen or progesterone test on me. Why is that? I have been taking acv (two tbsp) daily for 2 months now for just health benefits; not realizing until tonight that this could be curing me of my fibroids at the same time. Low and behold, I found your blog tonight -- and wondering if for the 1st time in 6 months if my pain free menustral cycle is a direct result of having taken the acv every day?? My doc wants to do his surgery March 17th and wondering now if I should have a 2nd opinion. I hate feeling that I am second guessing a doctor; but undergoing surgery if this cam be resolved with some of your remedies seems like such a smarter option. I have insurance finally as a single mom - but my deductible is 6k and they want that upfront to do the surgery. I just want the pain to stop -- I can't drive or work when I am on my cycle bc the pain is so bad...But today and yesterday for the 1st time in 6 months I am pain free....so it must be the acv. I hope to incorporate many of your other sugggestions to -- do you have any advice for me in this case.

    1. Kelly, first try and get a better healthcare plan with a lower deductible. Hopefully you can get Obamacare. You may pay a little more higher monthly premium but you won't have such a high deductible. It will be worth it and save you money if you need to get the surgery. Try the 10 steps to see if it helps you an id in three months you can at least have less pain. My experience is that these changes help with the pain a lot.

  40. Hello Deborah,

I wanted to send a big THANK YOU ! For all the great information you share to help shrink fibroids. In my research to educate myself, I came across your blog and was blown away at how similar our stories are. I've had 3 surgeries, 2 UFE and 1 robotic myomectomy! And just like you, I only had a few years of temporary relief each time.

I so appreciate the 10 steps as I realize I have been quite a few for a little while now but plan to add the mangosteen juice and green tea extract. I just started taking DIM and will begin taking meat out of my diet (luckily haven't eaten red meat in over 20 years). I also take iron glycinate for anemia although my periods are far more manageable.

I think the only thing I wonder is this, I am gluten and wheat intolerant and have taken so much out of my diet to alleviate my symptoms. My digestion is like night and day now! But part of why things are going so well is that I drink about 4 Oz of Kefir and about a cup of Greek yogurt a day to help keep my tummy full of probiotics. I only use organic and plain low fat and low sugar types but I am but weary of taking these 2 out of my diet. I do not drink milk, I drink either almond or coconut milk. And I will eliminate cheese and eggs for the 30 days. But what do you think about the Kefir and Greek yogurt? I am already taking so many supplements, all organic, vegetable or plant based with no fillers but I don't know if I want to add one more supplement, probiotics into the mix! Your perspective on this would help greatly in helping make a decision. I will also discuss this with my doctor. I also read about keeping progesterone from decreasing while lowering your estrogen. Do you have any other information about that?

Once again thank you and I apologize for the length of this post but would be so grateful to hear back from you regarding my inquiries. I send you continued healing energy on your journey. - GP

  42. Hello. I am so excited to have found your blog after doing a google search for natural supplements for fibroids. I am definitely going to give your regime a try and will keep my fingers crossed for a successful outcome. Like the other comments I've read, I do not want a hysterectomy and now UFE has been recommended as a stop gap measure to rid multiple fibroids two of which have grown from 3 cm to 5 cm . I am not too thrilled about UFE because a) based on my research new fibroids occur and b) I've already had a laproscopic procedure to remove ovarian cysts that was not successful. In addition to fibroids, I have PCOS and Endometriosis. I've been doing the wholistic approach (diet, supplements and exercise) and noticed improvement in my condition but I have not been consistent thus the symptoms recur and more aggressive. I am placing my Vitacost order and will provide periodic updates. Thanks again for sharing your story.

    1. It sounds like you have a lot of estrogen dominance related illnesses such as cysts, fibroids, endometriosis. So you are an ideal person who should immediately start reducing your estrogen with the 10 steps. Keep an eye on your fibroid growth. UFE sound like an option, but you will still need to control your estrogen to finally rid yourself of all this so it doesn't just keep recurring And get worse.
